Multi-factor authentication (MFA) uses two or more independent factors to verify identity.

MFA strengthens authentication by combining independent factors (e.g., something you know, have, or are). It helps mitigate credential theft but must be implemented carefully (e.g., phishing-resistant methods where feasible).
